Life's a blur...

This last month has been a blur of constant change...

  1. I gave birth.
  2. 3 days after being home from the hospital we found out we got our house....which means, yup PACKING!
  3. Less than 2 weeks later we were moving and I found out that moving with a newborn is not fun, just in case you ever wanted to try it. Thank goodness it was just across town.

  4. Trying to adjust my 2 year old to a new baby brother who has "stolen her thunder", moved her to a new house, and dealing with tantrums like I've never seen before.
  5. Loving, but still adjusting to a newborn who didn't like to eat very well (we are finally getting it down), and me being sleep deprived.

  6. Unpacking all that we packed and trying to step by step turn our house into a home. At least clear a path between the boxes. ;)

Ok, so now that I am putting them in a list it doesn't sound THAT busy, but believe me it has been. We just had our 4 year anniversary yesterday and it was amazing to wake up that morning and reflect on life. As I watched the two little kids that were asleep in my bed I just thought to myself how blessed our family is to have them. Its been a fun and busy 4 years. :)

I just un-froze my gym membership that is 2 blocks away so I am excited to get going and lose this baby weight. I think one of the best feelings is being fit and I miss it! Zumba/kickboxing here I come!

Jaxon is growing SO fast and I am trying to hold on to every second of it. Maya has had a hard time with him, but she is starting to want to hold him on occasion. I just cant leave him out of my sight for a second otherwise she claws him up pretty bad. I hope this is just a phase. :) If not he will be one tough little boy. She cracks me up though, yesterday she told me, "knock it off mama" and I thought to myself, " boy do I hear my own words in that one. I guess I have to be more careful and phrase things kinder. Then when she was in the tub I told her to sit down and she looked at me exasperated and said, "Dont pressure me!"....still not sure where she heard that one.

I am trying to rev myself up to do potty training, I tried it a few months back and maya just wasn't ready for it. I hope she is now because changing a two year olds diaper after a newborns is pretty grotesque.

Here are a couple of pics, enjoy!

Jaxon!

Enjoying "labor" once the epidural kicked in.

7 lbs 8 oz, and 21 in.
Getting to hold Jaxon for the first time, what a journey it is from the beginning of pregnancy to when you finally deliver. So worth every bit of it.
Ryan holding Jaxon for the first time-I love the big smile on his face. What a proud dad!
Snuggling with my little boy after getting cleaned up and getting ready to go home from the hospital.
This is one of my Beehives Emily....can you believe this amazing quilt she made for Jaxon??? 12 years old! I was amazed and so touched that she would do this. I love my beehives!!!

Ryan getting to enjoy rocking two children instead of just one.

So its taken me a bit to get on here, and if you are on facebook you have probably seen most of these pictures. Jaxon is almost a week old and time is already flying by. They say each kid will be different and already it has been a totally different experience than with Maya. Each wonderful in there own way, but im sure it has helped me be calmer the second time around since it is my second kid.
To be fair, I am warning that this is his birth story which will take more than a few sentences to tell. So proceed at your own risk.
I went a full week over and my dr. scheduled my inducement for Friday the 15th....(my due date was the 8th) I will admit that that week was probably the grouchiest I have had in I dont know how long. I was so irritated that he wasn't coming yet and I was so uncomfortable-I had pretty much had it with pregnancy. So yes, I was a witch for that week and I think I cried probably at least once each day.Although he was very patient- Im sure Ryan was just as glad if not more than I was when Jaxon was finally born. :)
So we went in at 7 on friday morning. On the way to the hospital I started having contractions. I thought...hey cool! They checked me when I got in there and I was already dilated to a 3! Then at 8:00 or so- the dr. broke my water and they could tell that the baby had already had his first bowel movement while in there, so they explained they would have NICU nurses there waiting when he was born, Ryan wouldn't be able to cut the cord for times sake, and I wouldn't be able to hold him for a bit while they suctioned him out in case he swallowed any of it. I felt a little panicked, but they said that they deal with it so often that it shouldn't be a big deal at all. That made me feel better. I asked my dr. how many babies he has delivered and can you believe it....OVER 8,000! Yes, he is definitely older. He is a stake patriarch if that gives you any clue to his age. I really enjoyed having him as my dr.
At 9:00 they started prepping for the epidural (heaven sent from above!) and it was in by 9:30 and they had started pitocin. Now my body responds WELL to pitocin, it did with Maya, and also with Jaxon. On a level 3 (the highest is 40) I progressed quickly and by 11:15 or so when they checked me I was at an 8, so they turned off the pitocin and started prepping for me to give birth since it was going so fast. I started pushing by 11:40, the dr. was in there at 12:00, Jaxon was born at 12:16. The epidural was awesome, totally pain free. It was great.
It took them about 20 min. before I got to hold him, but it was such a beautiful thing when I did. I couldn't help but crying a little and just having an overwhelming feeling of love for this special little boy of ours.

He had some struggles with eating, and we are still working on that. He had a few little bumps in the road, but nothing to worry about. He is healthy and happy.
Maya is definitely "adjusting" and has thrown tantrums like ive never seen since we got home. I think she is starting to come around, (or at least realizing that he isn't going anywhere.) But we love her so much and enjoy the small moments when she does enjoy him. (she will hold him for a few seconds here and there, but especially when daddy holds him she gets pretty defensive)
I better end this, Im sure there is a limit of how much you can write on these things. We are happy, and doing well. I love having a little boy and we are both so excited to see our family grow. Enjoy the pics!

The waiting game...

40 weeks to be precise.

Her latest obsession is with our keys....if you ever need em, just look in the doors, they will be stuck in the key holes.

I didn't make her take a nap and this is what happened close to 7 o clock. I dont know if she has ever fallen asleep in her high chair before.

I hate waiting, I really do. That is an area I need more practice in for sure. I guess I am getting more practice with this baby. I was having a TON of contractions...like for 3-4 hours a day when I was at 36 weeks. I started dialating and I really thought Jaxon was going to come maybe a few weeks early, but sure enough...here I am-on my due date, and no baby. (i guess I still have 7 hours to go but it doesn't feel like much is going to happen)
So here is a pic of me today...my due date, I dont look great, but it kinda explains how I feel. :) Life is good, I am just ready for him to come.
Most of you know by now that we just bought our first house. It is here in Kuna and although we are changing wards, (which was a really hard thing for us- we love kuna 13th!) We feel it is right. I guess we still have to wait to get the home inspection done on monday, but its only 5 years old-it was a foreclosed home. So hopefully there isn't much wrong with it. It has kinda of fallen at an "inconvenient" time, but then again....when is it ever convenient to move if you hate packing like I do? :)
Maya still doesn't get what is happening, but HOPEFULLY she will find out in the next few days. She has been a good little "mommy's helper" and I couldn't be more blessed. I am putting up a few pics of her as well.

Maternity pics

I loved how she was supposed to be "kissing me" but it was more like smushing me!

She never wanted to look at the camera.

Here I am with about 6 weeks to go! I was so grateful to have my sister take a few pics when she was out to visit. I really wanted to have some taken in a wheat field and there was only one left in kuna that hadn't been harvested and it was harvested a few days later. There were a TON of grasshoppers in that field!
I think my sister did a great job. Thanks Raili! I just wanted to document the pregnancy a bit. We have the name....Jaxon Leon Vasso. We love it and even though it took us forever to find, we know we found the one! I cant wait to meet this little guy. He moves so much and is making it hard to sleep, but I know I will miss it after he is born. Less than 6 weeks to go!

Railis wedding

Happy to be at the wedding.
The finished hair product....dont know who that random guy is...
Me and my big sister! She looked so happy that day!
This is getting Railis hair done in our apt before the wedding!
Ok, so I know this happened forever ago, but the pictures deserve to be put up. There are more professional ones, but Raili just got those back. If you have seen wendys on facebook, yup, these are the same ones. Remember how our camera charger fell out of the bag? This was one of the days we didn't have the camera. Super lame, but I was glad everyone around me had one.
Sorry, dont ask me why these pictures all didn't align....Im not sure how to fix them so bear with me while they just look funny.

Our little fish...

Wendy and Maya on the teeter totter

My super cool sister
At settlers park-one of thee coolest parks Ive ever been to that you get in for free.

Maya running through the fountains.
We have been having so much fun this summer. My friend Brittany convinced me to get a roaring springs pass and it has been so worth the money spent on it. We go twice a week and maya LOVES it! At first she was pretty scared with all the kids and waterfalls everywhere, but she has become really independent and wants to do everything like a "big girl" on her own-so I just put a life jacket on her and let her go!
My sister Wendy (Bird) came for a visit and Maya loved it. She cried and got all dramatic when she knew Aunt Bird was leaving. We may still go visit her in Pocatello in August though. (and she can color my hair for me) I love spending time with my family!

Portland!

Multnomah Falls....we didn't hike up to it, but it was so beautiful and brought back fun memories of seeing it on family trips.

We tried out a 4 course "brunch" at Ruby Tuesdays. They gave us scones, a blackberry parfait, our entree (steak and eggs with a apple/cranberry crepe) and a gourmet cookie to finish it off. Needless to say we couldn't finish it all there but it was quite fun!

A place where people go swimming...it looked like so much fun, but I admit I was a little worried about the kids there.
The scenic overview!
Ryan suprised me with a trip to Portland for my birthday to see the Lion King Broadway. I was so much fun and while it was a really quick trip, it was perfect! We went to the Rose gardens, up at a hospital for a scenic overlook ( i was afraid we were going to get in trouble for parking there) and walked around Downtown Portland before we went to the show.
I love going to new cities-especially with Ryan. I loved the feel of Portland and how green everything is. I must admit, it was a dismal ride back once we reached eastern oregon and into Idaho-not near as pretty!
The Lion King was amazing, our seats weren't bad at all and the costumes were just incredible. I love music and it has always been a huge part of my life. I love that Ryan is starting to see the light with Broadways/musicals and is becoming interested in them. It was the perfect Birthday Gift! I love you Ryan!

2 year pics

I got the motivation to run down to Penneys and get these done this week. I love how affordable it is to get pictures done there! at least with just one kid.
She cooperated for the first 4 or 5 min, just giving us grin after grin rolling all over the set like a model. It steadily went downhill from there. Pretty soon she was bolting off the set into the actual JC Penney store and running laps around the set. It was a good thing we got some cute ones in the 1st 5 min. By the time we did the outfit change to her swimsuit...she was done. The shells were too much and she refused looking at the camera.
Its hard to get a bad picture of a girl that cute though! Love her!

Maya is 2!!!!!

Playing on the swingset at grandmas. Our big two year old!

Devouring the pink frosting and ONLY the pink frosting.

Going to town with her presents. Holidays are so much more fun when your kids know what presents are. Im really excited for christmas now.
Farm cake.
Me with my beatiful mother and my cute little girl!

Me with my odd double bump belly. 6 months. I wish i would round out already. :)

My little girl just had her second birthday and loved it. In fact, this morning after 2 days of intense partying, she insisted she have cake for breakfast-nothing else would do. I had no cake left so she ended up settling for sausage and eggs.
She is talking so much, so obsessed with horses, and is just amazing us with all the things she picks up. I keep saying I am going to potty train her soon, but with each pack of diapers I buy I find myself getting no closer. She says some pretty adorable prayers though, which has been fun.
She finally figured out how exciting presents are and was great at opening them. She would look at the present for a second and say "more" and want to keep opening more. She got pretty spoiled, and she loved every bit of it. I am now trying to figure out how to better organize her growing amount of toys.

She cried during both happy birthday songs from my family and ryans...which was deja vu from last year when she was happy as a lark on her 1st birthday till the birthday song started and she freaked out and cried. She must take after me-I hate being sung to, in fact sometimes my face actually turns red.
I had a fun time making her cake...I kinda had to tell her what some of the animals were-like the horse, My mom and my sister Kaisa liked to refer to it as the "grandpa horse" cause he was all wrinkled from me trying to get him to stick on the barn.
She loved her minnie mouse cake at the Vasso's and loved the pink frosting, she decided she couldn't wait any longer and went face first eating it while they were trying to find matches. She is the love of our life and we can't wait for her little brother to arrive as well. Family=Happiness! I am 6 months now and starting to prepare for this boy so Im hitting up all the yardsales!
